Capacity Development

1. Assistive Technology Devices:

Assistive devices are important to the wellbeing of Persons with disabilities. They help them to communicate, move and to take personal care. NUDIPU Forever Ltd will ensure that: –

• Persons with disabilities access assistive devices at affordable costs to beat the odds of existing high costs in the market.
• Create and carry out awareness campaigns for assistive devices
• Training assistive devices professionals
• To collaborate with the government to support the social enterprise in the importation and manufacturing of assistive devices to ensure they are subsidized on price for Persons with disabilities.

Our assistive technology devices product range includes:

Aids for Daily Living (ADL): These are devices that help people with disabilities perform basic tasks of daily life, such as eating, bathing, dressing, and using the toilet: Wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, walking frames, white cane and raised toilet seats.

Mobility/Ambulation Devices: These are devices that help people with disabilities move around: Wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, walking sticks, tricycles, scooters, and White canes, adapted cars and vans.

Communication Aids: These are devices that help people with disabilities communicate with others: Speech-generating devices, sign language interpreters, and text-to-speech software, visual alert systems, teletype phones (TTYs).

Computer Access Software and Hardware: This includes software and hardware that allows people with disabilities to use computers: Screen readers, voice recognition software, and alternative keyboards.

Education Equipment: This includes equipment that helps people with disabilities learn and participate in school: Adapted textbooks, magnifiers, large print books, braille systems and laptops.

Electronic Aids for Daily Living (EADL): Remote controls, switchboards, and environmental control units.

Hearing Devices: Hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM systems.

Home/Building Modifications: Ramps, Portable steps widened doorways, and accessible bathrooms.

Prosthetics and Orthotics: These are devices that replace or support missing or malfunctioning body parts: Artificial limbs, braces, clubfoot braces, and splints.

Recreation/Leisure Adaptations: These are modifications that allow people with disabilities to participate in recreational activities: Adapted sports equipment, accessible playgrounds, and sign language interpreters for sporting events.

Sitting and Positioning Modifications: These are modifications to wheelchairs and other seating systems that improve comfort and support: Wheelchair cushions, headrests, and tilt tables.

Visual Aid Devices: These are devices that help people with visual impairments see better: Eyeglasses, screen readers, magnifying glasses, reading glasses and braille displays.

III. Financial Services:

NUDIPU Forever provides financial services to Persons with disabilities and members of the public that will create social impact in addressing specific challenges faced by the population such as poverty reduction and financial inclusion disparity.

We are a licensed and regulated by Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA), as a legal requirement in the Tier 4 Microfinance and Money Lenders ACT 2016 as a legal requirement.

Under Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions classification, NUDIPU Forever financial services is categorized as Non-Deposit Lending Microfinance Institution with aspirations for accepting savings and deposits in future.

Our scope of activities: –

• Assist in the development of affordable, relevant micro, small and medium sized loans that promote inclusion
• Expand access to microfinance resources for Persons with disabilities and individuals of the public to promote their businesses, livelihood and property holdings.
• Promote the inclusion of Persons with disabilities in the mainstream private business sector by fostering partnerships, encouraging diversity and equitable access to resources.

• Provide training and mentorship programs on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and business management

• Awareness platforms with Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) for Persons with disability on the benefits of migrating to microfinance non deposit taking institution which is demand driven and responsive to their financial needs

• Mentoring and Business Support: Establish a mentorship program where experienced entrepreneurs, both with and without disabilities, can provide guidance, advice, and support to budding entrepreneurs with disabilities. • Access to Financial Resources: Collaborate with financial institutions, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to develop accessible funding options, microloans, and grants specifically designed for entrepreneurs with disabilities. Create partnerships to facilitate access to these resources and provide guidance on the application process.

• Networking and Collaboration Events: Organize networking events, business fairs, and conferences to facilitate connections between entrepreneurs with disabilities and potential customers, suppliers, investors, and business partners. These events will create a platform for collaboration, idea exchange, and business development.
