PROJECT BRIEF FOR GENDER AND DISABILITY INCLUSION IN PRACTICE PROJECT

Project Objective

  • To strengthen capacities of partner organizations in Uganda to strengthen their
    capacities on gender equality to support the rights of women with disabilities.
Background

National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU), with support from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) is implementing a four year (2020-2023) Gender and Disability Inclusion in Practice programme (GADIP) in Karamoja sub region specifically in the districts of Kotido and Moroto. The project has four thematic areas which include inclusive education, GBV prevention, Economic
empowerment and building capacity of DPOs and Development partners. Its
objective is to strengthen capacities of partner organizations in Uganda to strengthen their capacities on gender equality to support the rights of women
with disabilities. The goal is to contribute to realizing SDG 5 on Gender Equality and SDG 10 on Social Inclusion, Equal Opportunities and Reduction of Inequalities in Uganda. and norms for improved food security for all.

Goal

 To contribute to realizing SDG 5 on Gender Equality and SDG 10 on Social Inclusion, Equal Opportunities and Reduction of Inequalities in Uganda. 

Intervention strategies GAD (Gender and Disability) capacity building OF DPOs and partners.

Engagement meetings, 1 in each of the 2 districts.

 

  • Engagement meetings at national level.

  • Meetings to establish partnership with organization working on gender issues to influence the inclusion of gender needs of women with disabilities

  • in the 2 districts will be held, 2 in each district.

  • District based disability and gender-based inclusive planning and budgeting meetings, each meeting combining the 2 districts.

  • Trip to monitor the implementation and review the district programmes and plans to measure the level of gender and disability sensitivity in the 2 districts.

  • Annual project reflection meetings DPOs

  • Annual reflection and learning project meeting for gender and disability stakeholders in for Moroto and Kotido districts.

  • Annual Disability Forum on 2nd December etc. leo.
