NUDIPU and stakeholders that is Research and Action for Income Security (RAISE), Uganda Parliamentary Forum for Persons with Disabilities, Uganda National Action on Physical Disability (UNAPD) and Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Social Protection launched the phase II of the child Disability benefit project.

In a special we way we want to RAISE for supporting this process to ensure the child benefit grant policy comes to pass.
We want to thank the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development for being in support of this proposed policy. It is time now as organizations of persons with disabilities to have a unified voice on this child benefit policy.
According to the Chief Executive Officer NUDIPU Ms Esther Kyozira, it is timely to plan for children with disabilities as their future is unpredictable. The social status of children with disabilities should be our concern as organisations of persons with disabilities to create a better future for them.
What remains is to have political will from government and legislatures for the policy to passed and funds be availed to support families with children with disabilities.
About 50 % of the households in Uganda with persons with disabilities are living in extreme poverty. 40% of these their expenditure is higher due to responsibilities that come along with taking care of children with disabilities, share Rasmus Schjodt from RAISE. Justifying the need to discuss about the child disability benefit.
