Project Goal
By 2025, through engagement with public authorities (formal and informal power holders), men and women with disabilities and other marginalized groups, are successfully influencing laws, policies, practices and norms for improved food security for all.
Project Objectives
The programme intends to achieve the three outcomes:-
- Women and men with disabilities and other marginalized groups are actively participating in local CSOs/DPOs programmes.
- Local and inclusive CSOs/DPOs are actively involved, legitimate and have more ownership in lobby and advocacy processes at all levels and are able to influence the gender and disability sensitive Local Inclusion Agenda and improve equal rights and access to basic resources for all.
- Local public authorities are actively engaging with DPOs/CSOs to develop laws and practices and set norms for inclusive governance.
Brief Project background including achievements
We are Able! Program seeks to have Persons with Disabilities improve their rights to land and food security and livelihoods through creating an enabling environment for action at grassroot level. In Uganda; the program is being implemented by consortium of six (6) organizations namely: – African Disability Forum (ADF) through NUDIPU, Light for the World (LFTW), the Hague Academy (THA) and Vereniging Nederlandse Gemeenten International (VNGi) and ZOA as the lead. The main objective of WaA! is “Co-creating inclusive governance for access to basic resources that leaves no-one behind”. The program focuses on lobby and advocacy by and for the Persons with Disabilities and other marginalized groups to increase their access to basic resources such as land and food security.
