According to CEO NUDIPU Ms Esther Kyozira, the project we are going to start calls for more engagement with ministries, departments, and agencies.

We will look at the effective implementation of the Persons with Disabilities Act, the UNCRPD needs and how can persons with disabilities continue benefiting from government programmes like the Parish Development Model.

Technology is important to persons with disabilities. This is a discussion that has to kick-start off and even discuss about the cost implementation.

The justice sector, especially regarding supporting women with disabilities on issues regarding gender based violence and also their voices to be amplified in the mainstream movements of women is key.

Issues of the marginalised population like persons with albinism should be tackled on a wider platform.

She appeals to all the stakeholders to open doors to support this project progress and support persons with disabilities.

For the local governments of Nabilatuk, Amudat, Nebbi and Packwach, were the project is mainly going to be implemented, we appeal the project would benefit persons with disabilities in these areas.

Why choose West Nile and Karamoja subregions

In Karamoja, there are high levels of exclusion of persons with disabilities in terms of service delivery in almost all sectors.

In West Nile, there are high levels of Climate change effects that are affecting persons with disabilities, and also many were affected by the aftereffects of the conflicts that took place in these areas before.

It was found that many persons with disabilities in these areas need to be supported with access to information and participation in societal activities.

According to the Royal Danish Embassy Representative Martin Muhereza NUDIPU and the consortium members, that is Albinism Umbrella and NUWODU, were chosen to take on the project “Advancing Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Social Services and Decision-making in Uganda-AIPSSDU”.
