This prestigious recognition celebrates Ms. Kyozira’s exceptional dedication to advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities.
Ms. Kyozira, a visually impaired Ugandan woman, has demonstrated unwavering zeal for the disability movement since the early 2000s. Her impactful leadership includes serving as Chairperson of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (2008-2012) and as a board member for the Higher Education Student Financing Board (HESFB) and the National Association of Women Organizations in Uganda (NAWOU) (2014-2021). While serving as Program Manager for Human Rights at NUDIPU, she led the drafting and presentation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) alternative report in 2016.
Currently, Ms. Kyozira continues to champion disability inclusion as a representative at the National Curriculum Development Centre and the Judicial Council (since 2021) and as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda.
