As the We are Able project is coming to an end this year, NUDIPU and the consortium team members, that is Light for the World, African Disability Forum (ADF), ZOA and VNGI, we are proud that persons with disabilities in Omoro have not been left in the same as they were.
The key highlight was the land offered to persons with disabilities by the district Local Government of Omoro to support them to have a stop centre where they can register their queries and be helped.
We have seen persons with disabilities also be empowered to take up leadership roles. The development and adoption of the Local Inclusion Agendas in five districts of Omoro, Nwoya, Arua City, Yumbe, and Terego was a step also towards promoting disability inclusion.
Persons with disabilities have also been profiled for easy linkage to government programmes.
The Chairman of LCV Omoro District, Mr Okello Peter Deogratius, has been a key disability inclusion champion who has always advocated for persons with disabilities to be included in all aspects of his district. Thus, he was appreciated during NUDIPU Advocacy Day last year, for his efforts towards disability inclusion.
